DD will be 13 in a couple of months and wants a disco type party at our house spilling out into the garden.

We have enough room to do it here but I am already beginning to hyperventillate just at the thought of 25, 13 year old boys and girls maurading through the house for 2 hours. Any tips for activities and how to keep it under control. (apart from frisking them for alcohol and BB guns as they arrive LOL!)

SHe says she wants a DJ but DH and I don't really think that will be necessary.

i'm doing this for DD1 soon. although the thought of doing it at home was too much to bear so am having it at local nightclub.
be prepared for the boys to stand around in groups and the girls to be dressed like hookers.

A few of her friends have had their parties in a hall but she wants it to be different. We have a big garden for them to cavort round in but I need some activities for them so it's not just a free for all.

I don't think 13 year old are into activities, are they?

If you have a large garden can you have an outdoor BBQ to congregate around, or a fire to toast marshmallows etc on?

You can't organise things for this age group (except one year when DD decided to have a "kids" party and did pass the parcel, musical bumps etc - but they were about 16 then!)

Maybe a karaoke machine? I don't think you'd be thanked for doing much more. I suggest speaking to DD tbh. She is the only one that knows exactly what's cool and what's not!

If you have a PS3 type console - SIngstar?

Agree Karaoke will keep the girls, tho' maybe not the boys happy.

DS went to a mixed evening party a few months ago (14 yr old girl). They did play a few games but they were spin the bottle, truth or dare type things while the parents were out of the way so it sounds like there was a fair bit of kissing going on!

They had a great time by all accounts, the games were v. much organised by the kids and the parents just ambled in and out occasionally. Certainly wouldn't try to be too organised, they won't like it ime

BTW, chocolate fountains always go down well esp with boys
