Going to gigs, how to be the least embarrasing

DS (13) has tickets for he and his female friend (14) to go and see a band. Her parents do not have transport so we're kind of in charge of operations. The show is 2 hours away so do I:

a) drop them off at the actual venue doors (he isn;t happy about this)

b) drop them off in Manchester "near" the venue

or c) something else?

Wear a boob tube & mini (particularly if you're slightly overweight), knee high leopardskin boots and accompany them INTO the venue, making loud remarks about how COOL and LIKE, REALLY HAPPENING it all is, and stick to their sides throughout the evening.

Oh, ok, but I'd def. leave at the doors of the venue.13 is too young to be wandering round Manchester at night imo

Let them make their own way?

DS wanted to me to let them get the train TO manchester

It's at manchester university, is it dodgy around there or safish?

Oh and mumblechum, I'm not wearing my best clothes to some scrummy band!

Is it at the Academy? Ring them up, check they allow kids in for this gig.

Directions here. If you are not going to pick them up, book a cab from a reliable company. Give them money for a cab from the station too.

Drop them at the venue.

Drop them just around the corner so no one will see you. BUT, some of these gigs have age restrictions - can be no under 14's or even 16's. He might have a bit of trouble unless got fake ID .

Is dropping them the problem? I would be more concerned about picking them up. The Academy is right on Oxford Street which I think is 24 hours no waiting these days (it's a long time since I was there), but I think you can wait in Blyton Street which goes round the back. Check it out when you drop them off.

you will have a problem dropping them on oxford road, but there are plenty of side streets to pull in to. You can also see the academy from some.

Will his mates be there?

For picking up you will probably have to park somewhere and walk over to a pre arranged meeting point, do arrange a place as there may be different exits so you can't rely on seeing them come out.

At 13 and 14 sorry but I would be escorting to the doors and picking up there too, very experienced at concerts and all that and too many "characters" hang about outside venues with various different intentions, ok mostly harmless beggers and big issue sellers .

I would drop them off at the door and arrange a meeting point for collecting them.
Don't rely on mobile phones for contacting them. They may drop them in the crowd. So make sure they know your number and know to ask a member of staff for help if they need it.
