Should I ask DD15 if she is seeing someone?

I am not sure if I am being too suspicious, naive and controlling (probably all of them)

When I was putting DD15.5 phone to charge last night downstairs, I noticed she had a photo in the front of the screen with a guy with his hand on her shoulder. Could be a friendly gesture.

Today, I went to pick her up at the station and noticed she walked through the back; totally different route, as she has to leave through the front. When I questioned she said she just walked that way.

I am a bit worried, but I know I can’t control everything, we have discussed relationships, consent, contraception, etc.

Should I ask her or just chill? Wait for her to tell me, if she decides to.

Raising teens is stressful 😥

I told her before that I would rather she wait to finish GCSE to start dating but if she does meet someone she like in the meantime to let me know so she can take precautions

Why are you worried? I’d ask in a general so anyone you’re keen on these days’? If she is, why do you think she hadn’t already told you? Do you think she’s worried that you’ll be all over it?

I might ask a casual 'Are you seeing anyone at the moment?' but usually I waited for them to tell me.

My mother was a nosy, disapproving nightmare and I was keen not to be one.

I don’t to be a nosy, disapproving nightmare.

I will wait for the right moment and ask if she is keen on anyone

I worry about she being safe, I worry about she being with someone nice who treats her with respect, I worry about unplanned pregnancy.

I worry about she being safe, I worry about she being with someone nice who treats her with respect, I worry about unplanned pregnancy.

So have that conversation with her. She might be seeing someone now or not, but she will have a relationship at some point and those concerns are sensible and lifelong. You can talk with her about these things in a mentoring like way, rather than a lecturing type way. You can ask her what her concerns are and what she thinks a good, respectful, healthy relationship is. Have conversations from a place of curiosity of her views, not instruction that you're handing down.

At some point she's going to need condoms, so why not leave a box in the bathroom cabinet so they're available now or for the future. If she might want to go on some sort of hormonal contraception at some point does she know how to make an apt for herself at your Drs? She might not want to come to you for your help with that. Give her the information and tools to keep herself safe before you think she needs them
