DC16 applying for so many jobs. Nothing back for months on majority. Some poor practice on recruiter behalf.

Done lifeguarding qualification so really hoping can get something that way. Got one interview but they were only prepared to do it during school day.

We are in London. Are others finding the same?

I agree that there’s not much going . A lot of weekend jobs we look at want over 18s too . I did wonder if it was partly a result of adults needing to take second / third jobs to cover costs .

We're in Yorkshire similar here dt2 hasn't been able to get a job. Dt1 finally got a job in September (been applying since march had 2 years volunteering and a reasonable cv for age) for a high street store but its only temporary till Christmas and the manager says normally decisions have been made by now of how many they can keep on but head office say no decisions till after budget this year.
I suspect a combination of things are affecting job market including increasing costs to employer and concerns about whats going to happen.

There’s SO many jobs going where we are but 16 year old gets nothing but rejections. It’s disheartening as if feels like nowhere is willing to give them a chance.

DS qualified as a pool life guard, then went into every leisure centre, private school and hotel that has a pool, every week, asked at reception, and kept leaving printed copies of his cv.

I collected ds from school to be interviewed on a school day (Friday afternoon) but on the understanding that any shifts were weekend or holidays only. He's 17 & now working as a pool lifeguard.

It took a bit of persistence and some luck.

Exactly the same situation for my 18 year old in Yorkshire. Currently on a year out before uni, looking to work to save money, applying but no interviews. Going to focus on building cv through volunteering and online courses and be persistent

Very few jobs nowadays for sixteen years olds sadly as employers just take on loads of zero hour people to cover Saturdays and the rest of the week.

DD had one interview lined up and then the employer didn’t show up so that was fun.

Her friend that got a part time job is lucky to be given 1-2 shifts per fortnight which I know is better than nothing but it’s tough for kids who want to start earning their own money.

DC was called for a trial. Went along then manager forgot he had called him and said taken someone else on. Other place said interview had to be in school hours. The other 50+ no reply. Really feel for yp

Next time DS gets interview even if during day will suggest he goes (hopefully clashes with free periods).

That’s such a shame.
