When do you stop waiting up for them?!

Dd is 17, she’ll be 18 in March.

Quite and active social life at weekends/school holidays.

I can’t sleep til I know she’s home safely. Pretty tiring when I have to get up early for work or other commitments. If I know she’s coming home with a friend then that’s slightly better 🤣
She gets an Uber home if it’s v late.

Oldest, who is 17, only occasionally gets back later than 10.30 but if he's going to be later I don't normally wait up - he'll usually message when he's on his way back and often I'll still be awake in bed to hear him come in, but sometimes I don't. He'll be travelling back on public transport that will probably be quite busy and then walking down a short stretch of high street with some shops open late and people around, so there's no particular reason to worry about safety.

I go to bed but don’t go into a deep sleep.

I leave the hall light on and they turn it off when they come in. I can then see under my door if the light is off and don’t need to get out of bed.

I don't sleep until I hear their key in the lock when my teens are home from uni. It's just one of those things, tired or not. All part of being a mother, their dad usually snoring happily next to me!!

It took a while for me to actually get off to sleep when DS was still out at that age but I didn’t use to wait up . Generally he would be walking back from somewhere local, and would stay with a friend otherwise.

Thanks everyone for your opinions.

It seems I’m not alone.

Dd isn’t going to Uni so I don’t have that to distract 😂

I never stopped waiting up for my daughter. She left home mid 20s.
