First period - advice on periodwear brands

Hi,
I know there have probably been threads about this, but can I find them?!
My daughter has just started her first period and is interested in using period pants.
It's not something I ever used myself and I am overwhelmed by the choice - and shocked by the price.
Can anyone recommend any particular brands- she wears age 12-14 knickers usually.

She's using Lillets teens pads. I remember hating pads and moved to tampons quickly and never used anything else. . I plan to get her a pick and mix selection of other things - what are teens using nowadays?!

My daughter (and me too when I’m not pregnant!) both use Modibody pants. Bought them from Amazon and they’ve lasted really well.
Only annoying thing is you need minimum of 5 pairs of pants to get through a cycle as a pair will last 12 hours or so but then they have to be air dried after washing and take a while to dry out fully (think 2 days inside the house but in nice weather like now they’d be a lot faster) so to have enough for a whole week of your cycle, you’d need a fair few and they’re not cheap!

My DD and I use M&S period pants. The 3 packs are the best value. Don't tumble dry them and they'll last longer

Heated air dryer works fine
moodibodi are the best quality

Thanks.

She took me by surprise this week, telling me her first period had started and she wasn't sure what to do about swimming as we were heading to the beach so panic bought some period knickers in sainburys- only thing available. They were adult size S but huge on her so she wore them under her bikini, to keep them up. Thank goodness she likes wearing baggy swim shorts over the top anyway!

Period pants and swimwear look great so will definitely look into your suggestions and invest.
Thanks again!

Modi Bodi, absolutely brilliant. Period pants and period swimwear. Well worth the investment. I bought DD a few pairs when she got her period 3 years ago. Added a few more in sales and from Primark. The original ones are only just a bit small and wearing out. I didn’t hesitate to replace them in a larger size.

The general thing with period pants is that the cheap ones are fine but best for light-moderate flow or you have to change more often. For heavy you need to throw more money at them or have lots more pairs of the cheaper ones.

I like the M&S ones for up to light-moderate flow but Wuka for heavy/very heavy. I can genuinely get 8-12 hours of peri flooding out of them.
Primark are well rated for the price too but haven’t used them myself.

It definitely pays to get a few different ones and try them out as fit does matter. Then gradually stock up.

I do think Tampons (or mooncup but I can’t use them) for full on period swimming though. Period swimwear is usually only recommended for lighter days and it’s probably not something anyone wants to gamble with!

I try to use reusables as much as possible but will use the occasional tampon for swimming or travel as I don’t always want to be washing pants.
