Hi everyone,
I need a bit of advice that this is quite common and not something I need to worry about!
we’ve noticed a huge change in our daughter over the last few months as in attitude is vile a lot of the time (she is generally a great girl does very well at school etc lots of friends). Is it normal for teens to just stay in bed all day?!! I worry about her mental health but she insists that she’s fine, she’s just enjoying resting…!!! She does go away with her dad on Tuesday for two weeks so that will break things up for her but the summer holidays feel very very long!

Hormones. They impact behaviour, make teenagers intolerant and affect their sleep. At her age I used to find it impossible to get to sleep before about 1am in the school holidays and then could sleep in for ages. If she says there is nothing wrong I’d keep an eye but not be too concerned.

Gosh it’s tough isn’t it…she’s an only child so I think we have been so used to entertaining her and now nothing!! Maybe it’s us who need to adjust!

What is she doing in bed?,gaming, reading,on her phone?.My DD is 12 and a half and she has spent a lot of time chilling in bed during the 6 weeks holidays (she does get up,showers and puts clean clothes on!) although shes been away at her dads for a week and going again next week for a week.Shes usually gaming online with her school friends or doing some artwork/crafty things.Ive noticed a slight shift in her attitude but as PP said it's probably down to hormones.
I don't mind if she wants to stay in her room and do what she enjoys as I think it's good for them to have some downtime and recharge ready for the new school year ahead. My daughter is doing great at school and has lots of friends so I'm not worried about her and if this is how she wants to spend her free time then that's fine with me.
I'd try not to worry OP 🩷.
