Son jumped by a gang - I’m struggling

Hi. My 16 year old son was jumped by a group of boys this weekend and beaten up. For anyone who’s been through this, how do you move on and not be terrified every time they go out? It’s only been a few days, but I feel constantly sick and feel like everything has changed. I’m checking in on him all of the time - which he’s now getting annoyed by - so don’t know what else to do.
Just reaching out to anyone who’s also experienced this.

That’s terrible, so sorry.

Did he know the boys that beat him up? Are the police involved?

No experience as a parent but my boyfriend was jumped a couple of times during our relationship, in front of me and it was very traumatic.

Luckily, he didn’t know them. It was random - they also jumped a few others earlier that evening. They’re not from our town. Yes the police were called. It’s just so awful. How did your boyfriend cope with it?

This was way back when I was a teen. He would have been about 16 when he was jumped too. He was actually OK. It didn’t seem to cause him any long term effects and he pretty much carried on as usual.
Its incredibly sad the world we live in sometimes. I hope he is doing OK.

Thank you so much. ☺️
