Detention - home consequence?

Hi just wanted to gauge people's opinion, do you give any further consequence at home when a detention given?

Like others have said, if it's something serious and genuine I would support the school, I wouldn't do anything at home though, other than have a chat to them.

My DDs school was horrendous for stupid detentions .... wearing tiny black secret socks with black tights as she was walking to school in the snow. Socks not allowed with tights.

Wearing a collared shirt and tie with a school skirt .... an open neck shirt had to be worn with the skirt ... trousers with a shirt and tie.

I could go on and on.

Depends on what it was for. Forgot a piece of PE kit nope not going to bother with that one. Swearing at a teacher, yup going to get on that asap and DD would be getting further consequences at home or at least an uncomfortable conversation

Depends on what it’s for but I would also say that my dc have never had detentions…they know we would take it seriously and have very high expectations of them. They would certainly expect it to be addressed at home.

If it was for bullying or something yes, but then the Head of Year would already have called up for a chat, so I would have got more insight into the situation.

Flinging your shoe the length of the music corridor (to pull an example out of the air utterly at random 🙄) you did the crime you do the time you utter wazzock, now let that be the end of it.
