Going to a gig with a 13yo (O2 Shepherds Bush Empire)

The website says:
Over 8s only. Stalls 14+ only. Under 14s to be accompanied at all times by an adult over 18 and sat in Balcony.

It will be the 3 of us going. He is 13 and 5'8''
Will they actually ask for ID if we get tickets for the stalls?

It's the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.
If anyone knows they layout - where is the balcony? There are 3 levels but tey all say 'Unreseverd seating / Standing'

Thank you

It's commonplace at gigs to have no under 14's standing/downstairs. I've seen people turned away or made to exchange tickets at other venues

Confused, if there's standing, there won't be stalls because that's the same space.
Depending on the show, I would go for first balcony as it's an awesome close up view.
I often go to SBE and Brixton Academy and always choose balcony because my mosh pit days are (sadly) over. Want to enjoy the show and not get squished (I am a 155cm person)

Thanks, I am confused too.

I'm in my 50's but for this particular band I'd love to take my son to the mosh pit 😀

If you are familiar with SBE, could I ask you:
is 11pm the usual closing time?
is there a cloakroom?

Thank you!

Op they have their own website where you can get the info you need plus you can email them enquiries.

One word of warning from me...they are very hot on the 'no bag bigger than A4' thing. There is a cloakroom but only for coats.
We went to Del Amitri in December and our friend had her work backpack with her...they wouldn't let her in. She had to go to a bag drop in a random pub halfa mile away.

I've been there for a gig and they're very strict. It's the risk of crushing. We ended up changing our standing tickets to seating. I didn't want to risk my daughter getting turned away, even though she'd pass for a 14 year old.

This super helpful as we'll be coming down from Newcastle for the night, thank you!

Yes to both. But cloakroom will likely make you later.
I would look at luggage lockers around Westfield for a speedier exit, but have no recommendations

you could stay in the Hoxton next door and leave your bags there.

@Pebbles16, another question from me.
Ticket says 7pm - is this usually 'doors open' or the band?

thank you!

@MyLostUsername usually that's doors open. You can usually find more detailed timing on SBE's website - some bands do this, some don't.

Some venues do check IDs.
