Step mum to a 17 year old very sweet boy. Since the new year he’s been “in love”. First relationship for them both. She’s same age. All very sweet and lovely but literally all they do he says is sit and cuddle and kiss on benches in town for hours in the freezing cold. He says they literally just want to hold each other and be together. They don’t feel the cold as they cuddle so close. She does have a blistering cold at the moment tho and so does he. Spluttering all through their A level mocks last week. I’d love to suggest things to do as he says he’d be glad of nice ideas. Neither is at all worldly. He’s very quite and doesn’t have a ‘crowd’ as such to do stuff with. Was always quite the loner really. What do kids like these do for ‘dates’? They’d never be confident enough to fake ID and sit in a pub like my own boys did at that age! The older step brothers tell him to invite her over to his room or wangle an invite to hers. He’s adamant that they both want to wait a few months before getting fully intimate though so he’s not biting 🤣. I quite admire him for that to be honest. What would you suggest two 17 year olds do with their ‘dates’ other than just sit and cuddle? I’m too old to remember and clueless what’s on offer these days because mine were all off driving at 17 and very very much more ‘liberated’ than this dear soul.

My dc's girlfriends have always been welcome in our house, and they at their girlfriends houses. When they were young, the door being open was a condition and they knew we would check in on them regularly. I would rather that than they sit outside in the cold (no critisism meant, it is very sweet).

Is there a reason why they can't be at either his or her home?
Do either have a dog that can be walked?
Cook something together for the hosting family.
Create some art using things in nature.
Watch a movie/box set.
Go to a pub but don't order alcohol.
Board games.
Who am I? game
Set up a tent in the garden and create a picnic.
Museums/art displays
Local history walks
Somewhere warm and safe just to chat/cuddle/kiss
Helping each other with hobbies or stuff that needs doing ie motorbike fixing/filling haynets/chopping and stacking firewood etc

Awww that’s nice to hear thanks. He’s a really good kid. He wears his heart on his sleeve a lot and has always been quite the chatterbox at home so he’s easier to understand than some teenagers. He got ridiculed at school for being so gentle and his confidence and friendship circle shrank. Apparently the girls seem to think he’s very handsome now so that’s helped. He’s a great kid. We’re just glad he’s getting out the house and living a bit more

Can't they just hang out in each others houses? They don't need to be having sex. Just watching TV or playing computer games or whatever they are into.

Would they enjoy the cinema? They'll probably just snog through the film but at least they would be out of the cold.

This post was supposed to be a response to the poster who said it was nice the way I spoke about our Dss. Sorry - it seemed a bit random and out of context otherwise!
