dd(13) hadn't signed out, a friend of hers has just sent her a message, I was going to reply "it's not dd, it's her mum" until I read the message.
"I've come on at last phew, weyyy" It's shocked me! I didn't think any of dd's friends would be sexually active, am I being naive?

no you arent naive. But it does seem to be a sad fact these days. Have you had "the talk" with your DD?

windygalestoday · 30/04/2008 17:39

i think its bravado tbh when i was at school one girl boasted of being sexually active - years later she admitted she wasnt.

eenybeeny · 30/04/2008 18:07

that thought crossed my mind as well but I couldnt work out how to express it

MegSophandEmma · 30/04/2008 18:09

I read it as phew ive got on msn

MissingMyHeels · 30/04/2008 18:13

I purposely accidentally looked at my 14(then, 15 now) yr old sisters MSN and found out she had been having sex. She was the last of her friends to do it!

Boco · 30/04/2008 18:15

Could she have meant that she started her periods at last? As in, she was getting stressed because she was the last to get them or something? I didn't start mine until I was 13 and was very relieved that I wasn't to be a strange titless childwoman forever.

lazymumofteenagesons · 30/04/2008 18:16

If she is talking about periods, it could be her first if she's only 13 or am I living in the dark ages?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 30/04/2008 18:59

I think she was saying she'd come on msn at last, possibly after being banned by her mum, or after connection problems. Really doubt 13 yr olds would talk so casually about pregnancy scares, but maybe I'm naive?

nailpolish · 30/04/2008 19:02

my first thought is taht shes had her first period at last

windygalestoday · 30/04/2008 19:57

i think she meant shed come on msn t last .....phewww giant banana the voice of reason lolol

QuintessentialShadows · 30/04/2008 20:01

I read that as she has finally managed to get on msn.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 30/04/2008 20:12

Are you going to ask your dd about it, brightwell?

mixformax · 30/04/2008 22:33

Do you know your dd's friend's mum well enough to clear up the confusion? If it was the other way round, would you like to be informed by the other mum of her (your?) discovery?

DirtySexyMummy · 30/04/2008 22:53

Why did you think this was about periods? I read it as 'come on MSN at last.

BigBadMouse · 30/04/2008 23:00

could be about anything IMO - I'd just have said 'it's DDs mum not DD' and left it at that. If it had meant anything untoward you'd probably be able to guess by the questioning 'did she work it out or not looks' you'd get from DD for the next few days.

charliecat · 30/04/2008 23:02

is the message history on the pc?

pinkbubble · 30/04/2008 23:05

You are lucky that you can understand any of the conversation! Whatever they mean! When DD goes on MSN it is all in code, have not got a clue what they are talking about!

IdrisTheDragon · 30/04/2008 23:06

I think it sounds as if she's just started her periods

Remotew · 30/04/2008 23:08

Stop jumping to conclusions . You can always as DD what her friend was on about .

My DD hardly ever bothers with MSN but then again she bucks the trend in most things.

madamez · 30/04/2008 23:09

a) You don't know what is being referred to and b) it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. Leave it ALONE or you could cause no end of trouble.

wonderstuff · 30/04/2008 23:13

Sadly some 13yos are active, pg one at my last school, have a chat with dd

brightwell · 01/05/2008 00:48

I know it's none of my business, I also know her periods started 2 years ago. I took it to mean her period had been late and that she had been worried about it. I won't be asking dd about it, but I'm concerned that her 13 year old may be sexually active. Even more concerned that if she is she's not using anything, especially as her mum is the school nurse who teaches them about contraception.
