winter coat - dupe of expensive coats

My 13 year old is desperate for a dupe of a Moncler, Ralph Lauren, Canada Goose or Moose Knuckles. I have a few reservations and really don't want to buy one. Here they are, sort of in order of importance:

  1. its just not us... we are comfortable but not into branded stuff even when we can afford it. (eg we don't drive a BMW or an Audi)
  2. more likely to be mugged as the mugger may not know if its fake or not (we live in London and the boys have a reasonable amount of freedom)
  3. it could be poor quality, or the wrong size as we have to buy online, and we have absolutely no recourse for a refund.

I am happy to buy him something normal from Uniqlo, North Face etc Its not H&M prices and we can go to a shop and try it on properly and check the fit and quality.

Am I being unreasonable? It is just normal that teenagers wear dupes now and I need to chill out. Or am I right to stick to my principles - the offer of going to a shopping centre is a good compromise.

What's claimed to be in the coat? I thought canada goose were linked to animal cruelty, so who knows what goes on to get the dupe.

the dupe will be synthetic crap, but that's not the point of my post.
