Pretty much what it says, really! DS is 16 tomorrow. We will be away on camping holiday, leaving today. MIL loves to buy the kids stuff and has already completely overdone it, leaving us with nothing we can think of to get him. DD has chosen an array of edible goodies and packaged them up nicely.

Right now, he's into golf, sailing, X-box. Not particularly interested in clothes. Doesn't read. Quite likes cooking and food, enjoys movies.

Hivemind - help! What can I get him with little/no time available? Thank you!

Money!

They love being able to spend their own money.

Comefromaway · 11/08/2024 09:15

Absolutely money.

VestPantsandSocks · 11/08/2024 09:15

Cash, hard cold cash!😂

PeriIsKickingMyButt · 11/08/2024 09:17

Money!!

but if you want something to open, I always get my DS expensive socks and pants (Nike socks and Calvin klein pants that otherwise he wouldn't get) and something edible.

Basketball
Bodyboard

His grandparents have already given him ridiculous amounts of money, sorry, should have said! MIL's love language is gifts, and she completely overdoes it. They've given him money for both exam results and his birthday

Golf baseball cap? Most golfers like them. Cloths to clean clubs? If you cannot get immediate delivery - money.

Iforgotagain · 11/08/2024 09:23

Depends on budget. My almost 16 yr old is into golf and wants a new driver, they are not cheap (tbf we will be buying second hand). Also hinted at a golf buggy. Small things will be smellies/Nike underwear.

Cinema vouchers
Amazon vouchers
An experience - driving etc?
Can you pay for him to do something when you're away?

BaronessBomburst · 11/08/2024 09:25

Colour-changing LED strip lights for his bedroom. Can be stuck along shelving, the skirting board, top of wardrobe etc.
It's not an expensive gift but fun and gives him something to unwrap.
Try IKEA or local DIY store.

watchingsmurfs · 11/08/2024 09:25

Tickets to a concert or event?
Golf membership/lessons
Sailing lesson?

I’d be going for an experience.

BaronessBomburst · 11/08/2024 09:26

Does he have a paddle board?

Violetparis · 11/08/2024 09:26

Does he like music ? What about a waterproof speaker for when he's in the shower. They're not expensive and all the teenagers I know have one.

RoseDog · 11/08/2024 09:28

Golf lessons with a local instructor is that the right term

ThisZingyBlueFish · 11/08/2024 09:32

Definitely an experience of some kind: axe-throwing, go-karting, tree-climbing, concert tickets ...

You can never have too much money!! 😁

(Well unless you're Elon Musk or Jeff Bezier, of course, looking at what it has done to them)

Crocs

bluewatermelon · 11/08/2024 09:47

Really good earphones?

bluewatermelon · 11/08/2024 09:48

Online gift card for an xbox game?

Seaside1234 · 11/08/2024 10:25

Thank you, some great suggestions! Golf lessons are a definite one, seeing if I can grab a speaker this morning...

There are speakers on Amazon if you can wait a day for delivery.

Just wanted to say a belated thank you for the help - the speaker was a huge hit, he said he'd been wanting to get one! Thanks all x
