We went swimming today and I saw my DS has chest hair at 13. His voice broke at 12 and a half allnd he is 5' 5" do you think he will get taller, I hope he doesn't end up very short. There are lots of short and tall people in the family so it is hard to tell. DH is 5'10", I'm 5'5". My dad is 6'2" but my mum was 5'. L

Is he shaving, OP, and if so, how often? Did you notice whether he had armpit hair?

Endocrinologists use facial hair as well as development of testicles as well as bone-age scans to determine stage of puberty in boys. So for you, facial hair growth is a reasonable indicator.

If he has been growing normally (within the main centile lines, and following a centile) through his childhood, he is unlikely to have stopped growing at 13.

Girls stop growing pretty early in puberty. Boys carry on growing until late in puberty. On average.

He was on the 10th centile for years but then shot up, he has facial hair and shaves once a week on the moustache but has a few longer chin hairs too so I imagine he'll need to shave that too. It's dark but his hair on his head is fair but DH is fair with a dark beard. He also has hairy legs and armpits. My Dad is hairy and so is my brother. DH has some chest hair but hairy pegs and arms his father is hairless but maternal grandfather was very hairy.
