All the time.

My dd won’t let me buy her sandals. 40 degree weather, refuses sandals. Got to keep those feet covered.

DoopSnoggySnogg · 23/07/2024 15:38

I wear socks all the time except when in bed as I can’t stand sleeping with socks on.

I wear my Nike ankle socks with pink sliders from Morrisons 😎

Traineraoc · 23/07/2024 15:39

Didn't we reject socks because our dads wore them with sandals? Plus, just before trainer socks became the norm, we'd had leg warmers and dayglow socks, white socks for men with dark suit trousers, so I don't think we're in any position to judge 😆

MissyB1 · 23/07/2024 15:40

We were in Greece last week, it was 40 degrees. Ds was in bare feet and flip flops, but all the other teens were wearing socks with either sliders or trainers! It was boiling hot ffs 😂

asterel · 23/07/2024 15:41

They do look ridiculous but so much more comfortable and better for the feet! I’m glad they’re in fashion as now I don’t have to be ashamed about wearing ankle socks with my trainers and sneakers (tbh I always hated those trainer socks - so uncomfy)!

Why is it such an issue 😂

I don't know why it would be a problem. Socks make shoes more comfortable.

We've just spent two weeks in Florida with DS complaining about sand rashes on his feet because he insisted on wearing socks (Nike ones) with his slides on the beach. So odd.

Inthemosquitogarden · 23/07/2024 15:43

Ds15 is careful never to be without socks as naked feet are “ugly”. This was taken to the point of ridiculousness last week in Cornwall as he paddle-boarded in the sea…with socks. Socks were also worn at all times on our friends yacht while the skipper was positively encouraging bare feet as best for the teak flooring.

he goes through about three pairs of socks a day as they need to be “fresh”.

its becoming a bit of an obsession…

I never wear sox in the house, or garden, or with trainers or sandals. Definitely not on holiday or to the beach. The only time I wear sox is in winter boots or walking boots. I love bare feet.

TinyTear · 23/07/2024 15:53

Evewn though i am gen X i hate ankle socks and im glad to see the return of proper socks

mitogoshi · 23/07/2024 15:57

The crew socks and sliders look plain stupid and I'm happy to tell my dd this, she tells me I know nothing about fashion Grin

LOL...and do you tell yourself you're turning into your own Mother?
I remember mine telling me she would not walk alongside me when I went through my trench coat stage in 6th form. She also said I'd get VD from it (I'd got it from a charity shop). Clearly, she knew nothing about fashion!

was somewhere with a bloke in his 20s. He had to come outside and was happy in his white sport socks

and he’s not alone. My sons almost always wear socks inside. Outside. Even in the summer

DS sleeps in his socks. Pj shorts and socks. Even when it's hot and he has the window open and the fan on the socks remain in place. Just odd.
