What do your teenagers think about holidays

Was talking to my nephews recently and they don't want to go on family holidays anymore at the age of 15, is this common? Just wondered really as mine to are 7 and 3 and I can't imagine this stage coming, although I know it will.

Most of the older teens know (children of older friends) do want to still go on holiday with their parents, even age 18 and 19! They like the free holiday and the chance to go to better place. Mind from 17y or so (sixth form) they also like to go on a holiday with friends as well.

I wouldn't be leaving them at home at 15, so they would be coming with us like it or not!

I think from around 13-14, a lot of teens don't want to spend a lot of time with their families (booooring), but could tolerate it if they were allowed to invite a friend along. On the plus side for parents their DC does seem to behave better with this arrangement, but then you do have responsibility for someone else's child.

We haven't given them a choice as I wouldn't leave them on their own at home. Skiing is no problem at all, they wouldn't want to miss it! In the summer we are lucky in that they have cousin's their age that they get on well with so we often go with them and do active things like rock climbing. We have thought of taking friends but haven't so far, it would be a big responsibility-perhaps this summer........

our ds's aged 7,12 and 14 are looking forward to our annual holiday -we are off to Great Yarmouth this year and we seem to do most things together too.........

dd 12 was happy just to go to guide camp instead( adventure week with kayaking and so on)We will do a couple of camping weekends over the summer too, but then she gets to meet other kids at the campsite which is great.
an actual 2 weeks with me and dh in the sun holiday really does not appeal to her.as an only child she finds it really dull to spend 2 weeks alone with us( lying prone and reading books)

most usually still want to come when they are 15+ if they have a sibling close in age or have a friend that they can bring. i would let mine stay at home once they turned 16.

My ds2 (he'll be 17) is coming with us this year. He's happy to just chill by the pool for a couple of weeks; probably eyeing up the young ladies! A couple of years ago we left ds1 (around the same age) at home for two weeks as TBH I wasn't willing to pay £500+ to have to put up with his grumpy face. I did miss him though.

ds is 13 and I love our holidays.As soon as we hit gatwick kevin the teenager disappears and my lovely son reappears for 2 weeks He is an only child but says he is happy to chill with us this year but we may take a friend next year mainly so that we can get some peace

Dd is 13 and has told me that this years holiday, 3 weeks on a campsite in the Loire valley will be her last one with us....unless we go somewhere really exciting! If she decides she's not coming with us next year, she'll either have to go to her dad's (can't see him agreeing to that) or she'll have to stay with her Grandad.

Our eldest DD stopped coming with us at 14. She stayed with grandparents and was thoroughly spoilt!
TBH it was a relief because she had been so foul on the last holiday she did come;she is 6 years older than the next one down so was 'bored'
She is now 18 and does her own thing,went to Greece last year with boyfriend.
Not sure Ds(12) will abandon us so soon though!

My two are fine, and they are close in age, and apart from the odd squabble, they get on pretty well.

We also see holiday time as important to us as a family, and splash out a bit to make up for the long hours dh and I work. So they do get great holidays.

Mind you, I think this summer will be the last where we won't have to consider school trips etc., and work around them. Ds (16) is also talking about going away with some friends, which we're thinking about.

My DS1 and DS2 (16 and 13) would never miss a skiing holiday.

But in the summer we do get some complaints. If we are going somewhere where there may not be any other kids (eg. boating holidays) they are allowed to bring a friend. So I look forward to 2 weeks on a boat with DH and 4 teenage boys!

DD1 came on holiday with us until last year when she was 20. DD2 and DD3 came on holidat with us when they were 15 and 17, Thet did some things with us and some things on their own. We went to centre parks in holland so they wre able to do stuff on site and also go to the nearby beach,
