Shaving rash and sensitive skin

DS is (just) 17 and has just started to have an occasional shave with an electric shaver. He only has a tiny bit of fuzz. He's a redhead with very fair, very sensitive skin. He came downstairs one day last week with shaving rash all down one side of his throat and under his chin. DH usually has a beard and claims to have never had shaving rash, so he's been no help. I saw Sudocrem suggested on MN, so he's tried that, but it hasn't really done much; nor has his normal moisturiser. Any tips for a clueless mum to suggest? I've told him not to shave again for the time being.
