What did your teen DS eat yesterday?

DS is 14. He eats constantly. Yesterday he ate:

2 x pains au chocolat
1 x jacket potato with beans
5 x chicken selects from the McDonald's on his way home from school
1 x share bag of chocolate orange segments
1 x punnet of grapes
2 x clementines
1 x huge bowl of spaghetti and meatballs
1 x poached egg
Probably an apple or two when I wasn't looking.

He usually also "snacks" on huge bowls of Special K, but refuses to use the "strange" milk I picked up from the Co-op rather than the identical milk we usually buy from Sainsbury's.

I'd be interested to see what other teenage boys eat over a normal day. I knew they ate a lot but as I said to SIL, it's like feeding the Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Yesterday DS had:
a croissant and a glass of milk
another croissant, salt and vinegar Squares, an apple and some Snacks biscuits
toast
fruit gums
an enormous bowl of salmon pasta with asparagus
I don’t know if he had anything after cadets as I went straight to bed!

This morning he was happily munching on a bar of Galaxy when I got in the car. I wish I could eat as much as he does!

BlowDryRat · 22/03/2024 11:31

DS doesn't like cucumber but he eats whole raw carrots like Bugs Bunny, often without peeling them first.

x6 slices of whole meal marmite toast
x2 penguins
pesto pasta
chilli con carni
crisps
a few strawberries
no veg hardly ever!

caringcarer · 28/03/2024 10:20

My DS ate a cooked breakfast of 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 hash brown, 2 eggs and 1/2 tin plum tomatoes with 1 slice of wholemeal bread toasted. Lunch salmon fillet and 2 slices of wholemeal bread and an apple. Dinner vegetable curry with noodles. I noticed a few easy peelers had been eaten and at one point he was munching on a pepperoni stick.

Starlightstarbright3 · 28/03/2024 10:25

As far as I know .

2 large ready made pancakes

curry rice and a packet of popsdoms

ham omelette
brownies and cream.

probably more - crisps I am sure as I bought some a couple of days ago

Karou · 28/03/2024 10:31

1 bowl cereal
pasta dish and a cookie for lunch
2 packets of crisps several chocolate biscuits
several kiwis and an orange
3 breaded fish tacos with tomato salad salsa

he raids the fridge for things like tomatoes and pepperonis too, so fairly constant grazing through the evening.

My DD is 18. Yesterday she had a sandwich and cinnamon roll pastry for lunch. Supper was tomato soup and a slice of toast.
Normally she has nothing til dinner time when she'll have a usual size dinner and maybe a couple slices toast with Nutella and some fruit later.
On weekends she might have tuna and pasta for lunch.
Never eats breakfast and rarely snacks. If she does it's fruit. She gets at least three/four portions of veg at dinner. I'd say she eats about 1500 cal a day but she's not particularly active.

So today he has had for breakfast , chicken nuggets chips coleslaw 🙄

That sounds like the kind of breakfast DS would have 😂. Once he made himself a bacon and egg (so far so good)… and fish finger sandwich 🤷‍♀️.

mamaduckbone · 28/03/2024 14:26

I'm not entirely sure - it's the school holidays so a LOT of grazing goes on. It was also food shop day, hence the random breakfast - he came with me and always talks me into buying baked goods and strange processed meat items.

That I'm aware of...
A toffee yum yum
A pack of snack meatballs
Noodles with chicken and I don't know what else that he crafted for himself at lunchtime
A penguin bar
A protein yoghurt
Half a punnet of strawberries
Breadsticks
A large portion of lasagne + salad + seconds
A tin of rice pudding
2 biscoff biscuits.

He goes to the gym every day at the moment and is constantly starving.

My 11 year old ate:

Bowl of cereal, croissant, cut up apple for breakfast,

Snack cucumber chopped,

Lunch breaded fish, chips and peas and a cookie,

Afterschool had a chopped apple and yogurt,

Dinner spaghetti bolognese, grapes and a Twix.

Then was hungry again! Had a couple of slices of toast. Very active and also eats like the hungry caterpillar.

My son eats waaaaaay less than any teenager I know!

Yesterday he had
2 x weetabix
Mini pitta pizza
Cereal bar
2 sausages/mash & broccoli (of which he only ate the sausage & broccoli)
1 doughnut

He's a perfectly healthy height/weight ratio and is fairly active, just doesn't seem to have a very big appetite!

BlowDryRat · 28/03/2024 17:21

The bacon, egg and fish finger sandwich is excellent.

I was woken up at 1am this morning by DS's bedroom light shining on my face. He wasn't in his room so I went downstairs and found him sitting on a stool in the kitchen, eating cherries. Apparently he woke up hungry! This was after an evening where he ate a big bowl of tomato pasta, a 6-egg omelette, a slice of toast, a mixing bowl of Special K, a punnet of grapes and a packet of chocolate buttons.

I don't always know what DS16 has had but he did mention he had two pain au chocolate from Lidl yesterday and a tuna panini for lunch. Breakfast was porridge with raspberries and a green smoothie. Big pack of candy kitten sweets, then a bowl of weetabix. We had creamy chicken pasta and broccoli for dinner.

(he also had the pasta, obviously,!)

It is interesting to see what other teens eat. My son often does a lot of his eating later in the day especially when he is at college. He is 17.

Yesterday he had:
cherrios and oat milk
burger and chips
walkers baked crisps
special k
vegan chicken pie, roast potatoes, kale, corn on the con, gravy
pot noodle
(possibly more cereal and a couple of biscuits)

On college days he often skips breakfast and takes a cereal bar. One day he has McDonald, the other 3 days he takes a salad usually with tofu or meat free chicken, beans, pesto pasta or a grain (like tabbouleh).

It is not unusual for him to eat 3 bowls of cereal in a day but eats biscuits or chocolate only sparingly. Evening meals are usually veg heavy as we are vegan. He has toast/bagel (with beans, hummus or nut butter) or a pot noodle for supper (or cereal).

As the mum of a 16month old, I am loving this thread. DS eats more than any other toddler I know and I can see the trajectory we are on for teenage hood.

DS3 (15) is now going through the constantly hungry phase that the previous 2 went through.
I recall when DS2 (now 17) went through this phase at 14/15 he actually complained he was sick and tired of being constantly hungry and eating!

DS(15) currently eats :

2 bowl of cereal in morning or uses a medium Pyrex mixing bowl to save time and effort of double pour

Packed lunch - sandwiches with cheese and ham
Pasty
Babybel
Fruit pot
Banana
Nutri grain or similar
Scone or pain au chocolat
Mini cheddars
Fridge raiders/peperami

After school - cereal again or filled baguette

Evening meal - curry, rice/ toad in the hole, veg / cottage pie, veg. Whatever I'm cooking

Evening - cereal again or toast marmite/crumpets

Oldest is 19 and eating has reduced somewhat and DS who is 17 has reduced somewhat
The older two tend to snack more on hard boiled eggs or cans of tuna / cans of peaches in juice

DD13 eats a good plateful at mealtimes also but is more picky and particular

All kids are slim and well within healthy range according to height weight ratio so I allow them to eat what they feel they need and just try to keep up

DS15 averages about 3 boxes of cereal and 6 pints of milk on his own

Mine use massive bowls for cereal too, saves time apparently! My son actually said to me tonight he wishes they sold tablets that made him feel full as he's actually fed up of eating!! He's a very healthy weight, plays lots of sports and is just growing at an incredible rate.

CadyEastman · 28/04/2024 07:57

What I know about:

2 pains au chocolat and a Red Bull. Obviously they didn't want to ingest any vitamins before work Grin

Ham salad and crisps for lunch.

Homemade Chicken curry with boiled rice and shop bought naans for tea.

Follow by a can of cocktail and a slab of Dairy Milk Caramel.

They probably ate a lot more at work as they work in a high end cafe and get to eat what's left if breakfast service and get fed things like brownies through the day.
