Flat chested teen - bra advice

Bordador · 07/01/2024 19:38

My daughter is 14, almost 15. She started her period aged 11 and now stands at 5ft 8 inches. So has definitely been through puberty. She wants to wear proper bras, However she doesn't have any bust. I managed to find a brand in M&S that did double AA cup but even this was too big.
Does anyone have any experience of a child developing a bust later on in teenhood?
Also any manufacturer/brand recommendations of pretty teen bras. Thank you

If you’re not fussed on price, boux avenue has some really pretty bras (from a 34 year old still waiting patiently for the A cups to grow…)

HappyHamsters · 07/01/2024 19:45

Have you looked at bandeau bras or bralettes

Alwaystired2023 · 07/01/2024 19:47

35 year old who wears a 32A or 30A (but measures a 26AAAA) have just discovered Pepper - they are pricey but a bra that actually fits my boobs, cups and all, no gaping horrible cups etc

Posters please be careful

What are her actual measurements?

The M&S way of measuring (that adds 4 or 5 inches to the band) really does not deliver a good fit

Yep.

Why? Genuine question.

First Post?

Why do I have to be careful? Genuinely don't know.

Thanks for all the helpful advice so far x

Evening, all. We just wanted to pop by to say that, while we can obviously never vouch entirely for anyone on the boards, as we just never know, we've no reason to think the OP is anything but genuine. She's been here a number of years and never been any trouble at all so we currently have no cause for concern here.

OP - we hope you get some more good advice on potential purchases here.

Bordador · 07/01/2024 20:17

Thank you ... I'm a bit shocked and sad that people thought I might be anything other than completely genuine 😔

I don't even know what sort of person you thought I might have been from my original query

Can you or she measure and get an idea of size?
Under bust measurement is the back size and then the difference between the over bust and under bust sizes gives the cup size.
1inch difference = A
2inch = B
Then its C, D, DD, E, F, FF, etc

TeaToastIsAll · 07/01/2024 20:21

@Bordador I must admit I was alittle suspicious too. I think what rang alarm bells for me was when you asked about the bust growing. I didn't see the need for that extra question.

Bordador · 07/01/2024 20:27

I asked because she said to me only last night that she didn't want to be flat chested her whole life.
It feels strange - genetics and all - when all her female relatives are either averagely endowed or largely endowed, that she isn't.

DD is 19 and it’s only in the last 2 years or so that she’s really developed in that area, so I’d say that there’s still time yet for your DD. Now we have the opposite issue and she wants her small boobs back as apparently that’s in trend..!!

DD and her friends all tend to wear Calvin Klein & Gilly Hicks bralettes. Really good as they come in very small sizes. Most girls these days don’t tend to wear ‘real’ bras, most see it as an inconvenience if they have to! X
