Teen Skincare

My DS13 is starting to have some spots and blemishes on his face. My DH and I both suffered pretty badly from acne as teens (I think mine was in the realms of 'normal' but DH says his was pretty bad).

I don't want DS to go through the same but feel completely clueless and a visit to shops for products has not helped; everything has moved on considerably since we were teens.

Any and all advice gratefully received! What has worked for your teen? What do I need to look for in products? When do we need to seek medical advice etc?

So far, DS has a Cetaphil cleanser in the shower which he uses in the morning and a CeraVe Blemish cleanser he uses at night along with a gel (along I don't think he has been using the gel) and we have Freederm spot gel for applying to individual spots when necessary.

His skin seems quite oily around the nose and chin and this is where the spots are. He is asking me should he pop them and the advice online is no, but then he says he can't go out with massive yellow heads on his face which I quite agree with is difficult.

DS has started using acnecide and he seems to think that works better than several other things we've tried.

47 skin and thank me later. My daughter has same issues she uses my cleanser and her skin settles. Everyone that I have recommended this product to has had good reviews.
