Do other Mum’s get lots of shouting when asking questions.
I feel traumatised by her shouting. Really traumatised.

It depends on what questions you are asking! Why do you find it so traumatic, do you think?

I tried to remember that it wasn't really personal and to not let teenage histrionics push my buttons, but I know it is hard!

Grey rock, it drives them potty!

She screams at me to get out and leave her alone. Screams and says she hates me.

It's gone now for years. About 3 and half. I think I'm broken by it.

What are you asking?

Get out of where?

The “I hate you” happens when they are angry and just start saying things they know will hurt your feelings. Teenagers and their hormones can make them very ornery.

Eeek, my wonderful late MIL, always said DD’ will always argue with their mothers, she had 3 DD’ and one gorgeous DS (my wonderful DH) thank goodness DH & I had boy’s, but honestly It will get easier OP, your DD will mature and it won’t always be like this. But it’s a rough ride in the meantime, based on what she said, you wasn’t into drama so I totally believed her.

She did. In her pit of a bedroom. The other one is loudly screaming ‘I know’ at me - she’s completely different now in sixth form

anythinginapinch · 15/09/2023 17:59

Leave her be. She'll calm down eventually.

@Eddyraisins that thread is so it. Omg. Mean girls make mean teens. There is a book that says that actually girls are happier with just two close friends. And groups are just stressful. And that girls find it hard to be assertive. They are either meek or dominating. It's true. I find this in my life too. At 56.
