Hello,
my 12 year old daughter had her first ‘period’ back in June, it wasn’t a full on period just 4 or 5 days of brown discharge. She then didn’t have anything until last Monday (5/9) when again she had more brown discharge, I always remember having this at the start of my periods, this last until Wednesday we she started properly bleeding. It was light for the first 3 days, then really heavy over the weekend and she had awful period pains, it finally calmed down Monday evening but she is still bleeding today, so all together she has had this period for 10 days! Is this normal for a first proper period?
I don’t remember my first ones lasting this long or being as heavy as hers were… should I be concerned?
Thank yob

Poor kid.
I think if it's still going on tomorrow I would ask for a GP advice call.
I suspect they will say it's normal and periods can take a while to establish a more regular pattern.
