Hi we used period underwear from next, they do younger age up to 16 y/o and then used swim shorts over them.. Next do quick delivery too. Otherwise try primark

ModiBodi

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but won't they spread blood throughout the pool when they got wet?

We had no issue at all!

OMG this is amazing! I can't use any insertables. I had no idea I could swim on my period!

I've managed to get some from Wuka using special delivery. I would have used Modibodi but they only had one delivery option. There's also 15% off swimwear at Wuka..they seem to have good reviews 👍

This!! Please tell me people don’t get in the pool wearing bloodied period pants and no mooncup or tampon?! Surely that’s a massive hygiene/health hazard for other people??

What do you mean by no issue, do you mean no visible issue? Because that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening! Sorry I’m just utterly shocked that anyone would get into a public pool with no proper period protection.

Wow you're easily shocked lol. Like I said no issues with my 11 year old daughter, v light period ✌

WinchSparkle80 · 09/08/2023 15:34

Wuka are great- DD v v light though

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 09/08/2023 15:49

Pretty sure the waterproof outside keeps the period blood in the pants and the pool water out of it.

LittleOwl153 · 09/08/2023 15:52

My DD and I have been useling ModiBody swim costumes for a couple of years now. Fabulous invention!

https://www.modibodi.co.uk/blogs/womens/period-bathers

This explains how they work. Blood doesn't escape into the water.

Ok I guess I stand corrected! I still find the idea deeply unpleasant though and it’s one more thing to try not to think about when I go swimming 😂

CocoPlum · 09/08/2023 16:20

My DD has black modibodi swim pants and I bought a black bikini for her, so she just switches out the bottoms if necessary. They're designed more for light-med flow though.

far more likely to be pee than blood in the pool

whosaidtha · 09/08/2023 17:44

I think the water pressure stops the blood coming out.

Possibly too late for your trip, but you can get medication to delay a period, start taking it 4 days before period due. For under 16s you need a private prescription, which your we can do, but you then pay for the medication.
I also vote for modi bodi- swimwear
