Help... 14 year old struggling with brace elastics

Our son's meant to be wearing elastics on his braces now for a couple of months. He's meant to be doing it himself but he really lacks dexterity/fine motor skills. It's taking me a sweaty ten minutes a night to do it for him and I'm really struggling. We went to the orthodontist (she's a snappy type which doesn't help) and she made a few tweaks. We'll no doubt have to go back. Meanwhile any advice please about what's helped your yp in this situation? We've tried with/without the hook, looked up videos on you tube, shining a torch in his mouth, pulling his cheek to one side etc

Practice so he’ll be able to do it by feel before long. You can also try using a loom band hook - plastic stick with a hook. DD’s brace comes off Friday and I can’t wait to be done with it. Orthodontist appointments, taking them out of school and school getting grumpy and work getting grumpy… arrrgh! Good luck!

I totally get that about appointments! Good luck for Friday 🙂. Unfortunately, he can't manage even with the hook.
