What age do boys feet stop growing?

Can someone tell me roughly what age boys feet stop growing. My son wants a pair of air force trainers for his birthday. He will be 15 and currently a size 8 and has been for about a year. Could his feet have stopped growing or do they just grow slowly at this age? He tried on an 8 and they fit fine but a 9 were massive but don't want to have to fork out for another pair in 6 months time if his feet have grown!

I don’t know, but would like to. DS 16, size 8 - same school shoes for two years. Still looks fairly young, like he might grow, but not sure if his feet will grow too. We’ve just bought him a fairly expensive pair of shoes, now hoping they’ll last. I expect everyone is a bit different though.

Be grateful...

DS (17) is a size 12.5. You try finding shoes in a twelve and a half - even though he and half of his friends are 6ft 3 or 4". He only wants Nike trainers - but every time we go into JD they don't have any in his size. Or they don't appear to have the style he wants. I'm praying his feet have stopped now.

DH is a size 13 and it's practically impossible to buy him shoes or slippers anywhere.

I’d like to know this too. My son is growing like a weed. Just got the next size in trousers (literally 2 weeks ago) and they’re at least an inch short. He’s 5’8”, 14 and a size 9 in shoes. His dad is 5’6” and a size 7 and I’m 5’7” and a 7 so I’ve no idea where he got his height and giant feet from.

My eldest is about a 10 at age 15 and I think he’s slowing down. He’s pretty much stopped getting taller now - is yours still growing height wise?
My youngest is a (adult) size 12, age 12. He’s still got plenty of growing to do. It’s going to be hard!

My dh followed a year by shoes size trend so year 10, size 10, year 11 size 11. His feet stopped at a size 12 but likes a 13 for comfort ideally. So I think his feet could grow more as he still might have a few years of growth yet.

I'll preface this by saying I don't have a boy, but kids' extremities grow first and stop growing first.
My DD's feet have not grown since she was 12, she is now 15 and almost certainly done growing. Boys, on average, have reached their full height by 16 or 17, so an average 15 year old's feet should be their adult size or almost there.

DS(14) is a size 14 shoe, so I'd really like to know this!! I feel your pain @WateryDoom. (DD(11)) is an 8!).

ds is now 20.
I think his feet stopped growing about age 16.
he was a size 12 and then slowly crept up to a size 13 in that last year or so.

Size 13 are impossible to buy in the shops

tips for those looking
Nike do a size 13 online, so buys all his shoes online, as he knows Nike fits him.
Next do formal shoes in an size 13, they have some in shop and will order in so you can try and return on the spot.

We also bought school shoes in this size for his last year, sports direct I think again online for the size 13. He always had the same style as we knew it was a good fit.

My son is 13 and takes a 13…..:: I’m kind of ready for it to stop!

middleager · 01/06/2023 08:56

My sons are 17. They haven't grown in height or feet size for over 2 years now.

my experience is that boys feet grow longer. Both dds feet stopped growing around 14/15, but ds continued.

and he did not stop growing height wise until about 17. (6'4"!)

DS1 was a size 12 at age 13, nightmare trying to get suitable school shoes for him. Luckily although he kept growing upwards, his feet didn't grow any more.

DS2 was a slower grower, he was 15 when he hit size 12 shoes, but his feet kept growing. He's now 5'2" with size 13 feet.

@WateryDoom I am feeling very grateful right now that we don't have to contend with size 12 and 13 (and all the sizes on the way!)

DH is an 8.5 and says it's great for getting shoes in places like TK Maxi because they're always the ones that don't sell.

MumsShark · 01/06/2023 10:02

Would love to know this too ds is 10 and already a size 8 😳
