Last night DD called to ask me to give her extremely drunk friend a lift home......

They were all at a 6th form party & I had agreed to collect her & (another) friend at 12:15.

DD only drinks water, but some of her friends get drunk. One girl was totally wasted and had been sick and was evicted from party. DD was outside with her & didn't know what to do. COuldn't put her in a taxi on her own & girls Mother doesn't drive. She was supposed to go home with another girl after midnight but this was 10:30!!

So I lined car with bin bags, buckets, bounty roll & set out (Hoping somone would do same for my child if ever needed). This girl is tiny & couldn't stand up. DOn't think she was aware whose car she was in either Said she felt sick then passed out thankfully & slept all way home.

I had to help her Mum get her into the house (after she threw up in the garden).

& then go back to club at 12:15!!

I gave DD a big hug for being such a good friend & for not putting me through that experience!

How can young girls get into this state so regularly

thank God you have the kind of dd that knows she can ring you up and tat you will help out. Imo one of the most important thing you can do for your kids is make them not afraid of ringing you to bail them out if things go pear-shaped.

just think of the poor kid today, feels like crap and mum giving her a hard time

she's not the first, won't be the last.

my dd has been the good friend and the drunk friend before now so i have seen the situation from both sides, (lucky me!)

Oh, and I bet the other girl doesn't do it again.....
It might have been her first alcohol experience. God knows my first one was awful and involved lots of puking and a twisted ankle.
Ahem, and I meant relationship of course.

She was lovely when I got her later as knew I had had to make 2 trips! She got annoyed with the bouncer though who was blaming her for her friends state (DD just went with her when she was thrown out).

TBH - should a club evict a 16/17 yr old onto street? I know it was her own fault but anything could have happened.

More worrying was the number of kids who were walking home!! It's not great playing taxi after midnight, so we try & swap lifts, but DD doesn't go out that often - it IS half term & we were all young once

Now she owes me a big favour

It is a very worrying trend! AT the moment my DD doesn't drink at all - but I am aware she could change her mind at any time. I only hope she has seen enough of her frineds drunk whilst she is sober to stop her ever getting that bad...

i used to regularly get very very legless when i was a teenager. looking back, i'm amazed that not one barman refused to keep serving me, knowing i must have been out of it.

I would be concerned that she was able to get that drunk in a club if she was under age. The bouncer should not have let them in in the first place. Luckily your dd has got some common sense.

At 6th form parties, they rent a place and have to show ID on the door for a wristband if they want to buy alcohol, only served soft drinks without - and free bottles of water left oout at all times.

DD thinks she had been drinking before party and persuaded others to get it for her.

DD is now 17 and loads of her classmates get regularly drunk at home parties

Must admit I was regularly drinking at that age but Dad had taught me how to drink a couple of years before so it was rare I was paralytic. (e.g. - learn to recognise the signs I was getting too drunk, not mixing certain drinks etc.)
Saying that, I did have a relationship with my Mum that I knew she would pick me up if I ever needed her desperately - and it made a big impression on me. I really appreciated it so would imagine your dd will always remember this and love you for it!

tbh this was par for the course when I was a teenager 30 years ago (though I never did it), so I don't think it's a worrying new trend. Have also heard stories about dh- and about MIL when she was young nearly 60 years ago

But your dd sounds lovely and you seem to have a great relationship.
