Constitutional growth delay DS 15

DS 15 has just been diagnosed with late puberty with the option of testosterone treatment but we don’t know what to do. Consultant thinks wait for a few months as he’s showing some signs of testicular growth but genital are pre- pubescent. She wants to do genetic testing too. He has bone age 2 years younger.

We are quite concerned generally so wondering if anyone had any experience of it? He’s just 15 in november. Should we just opt for the testosterone now? He’s going to have blood tests in a few weeks

Hi there, I hope you don’t mind me asking, how much is the private consultation/tests?

thanks

I think the initial consultation was about £180 plus £80 for the X-ray. Follow up appointment was about £140 and £70ish for the blood tests.

I don't have anything to add to this post, except I just needed to voice - and I thought people here would understand, as I can't really say it IRL - that I feel so anxious about my son's size at the moment. I know he's only 12, i know constitutionally DH didn't shoot up (to 5ft 8) until he was later, about 15/16, but I get really panicked when I see the difference with him and his friends.

Even the one I thought was closest in height to him is about 10cm taller now.

I know that him being healthy is the only thing that matters but it's hard. I worry about his mental health as the gap widens

My son at 14 had zero signs of puberty (he's severely autistic so the doctor and ourselves decided against any treatment).
He's 18 now and caught up in every department. It seemed to happen very fast once he reached 151/2.

I too am worried about my son who is approaching 15 with no signs of development. I did speak to my brother about the subject and he reassured me that it is absolutely normal and he himself did not develop anywhere on his body until around 15.5/16. He recalled being very worried about it at the time but it did happen and all was normal.
It’s the waiting game that is tough, knowing it can upset your child and there is nothing we can do to help them, that’s what hurts.
I do feel better about the whole situation having spoken to my brother though and I will hold out a bit longer and see if it all falls into place on its own.
