Teenager trainers style help

Hi all! My sister said my niece would like some trainers for Christmas so my mum and I will go halves. She's a lovely girl and I'd love to get her something cool and 'in' . I've heard of Nike air force 1s? Nike Jordan's, so I guess that's what I'm looking at. Anyone with cool vibes that can help an auntie out. Thank you in advance. (She's not really into bright colours so white or plain ish ones- black and white) pictures would be fab. So many choices. Are there any 'specials' that I could hunt for?

Really don't think you choosing is a good idea. She needs to choose herself.

Would you want someone choosing something like that for you?

My very "cool" daughter has black AF1s for school and white AF1s for going to places, but she has asked for Jordans for Christmas 🙈

DD also has the white ones. I am surprised that so many posters say the AF1 in black can be worn to school. DD is at a state school but uniform policy says no trainers. She'd love to wear AF1 to school. Are trainers allowed in most other schools?

Mine is at an independent and it's allowed (to my surprise). But she was an another independent before and it wasn't allowed. I think it totally depends on the school.

Dd has been in both state amd private and both say no trainers. She's worn black af1s in both 😜

DS is at a state secondary and all black leather look trainers are allowed. Almost every child wears black AF1s. Occasionally a particularly picky teacher will ask them to remove the metal bit on the front Hmm

Nike Dunks are what mine wanted recently. They were quite hard to get hold of but other than that I'd go Converse.

Mysonwontwash · 08/12/2022 17:47

My daughter had Jordan 1s last year, this year she got Jordan 3s. Ridiculously expensive but she managed to just about fit in a jr size as they run big. Personally I prefer the 1s.
My DH had custom Jordan’s made for himself on the Nike website which were fairly reasonably priced, maybe that’s worth looking at?

I have a DD 14 years old, she's trainer mad. Nike Air Force 1's in white for every day wear. For dresses she wears high dunks in pastel colours or blazers, white with a black tick.

I think the dress and trainer look is awful, but I'm not 14!

I’d either give her a gift card / ask her to pick them out & you pay or ask her mum to pick them out for you.
My DS1 13 likes Jordan’s, he likes plain black or minimal detail which should be easy but he’s still picky as it’s easy for them to look basic, they’re not school shoes for him as only allowed proper shoes (and they have spare shoes for kids to change into).
DD 15 likes Jordan’s and converse but she likes red.

Don't buy a teenager trainers without asking what they want .

This.

My teens would rather gouge their eyes out than wear air force 1s or whatever is "trendy"

A voucher for a shoe (trainer) shop would be better.

Afterfire · 19/12/2022 15:09

I think you’re setting yourself up for a fail buying them without her choosing them. Air Force 1s aren’t the same as Jordan’s etc. I’m confused just reading everyone’s suggestions! I would give her the money towards them as boring as that sounds and let her choose.

Got a pair of Air force 1s in white and was perfect.

Yay!

We got my daughter the Jordans in grey and that was her favourite Christmas present 💝

Hoolihan · 28/12/2022 10:16

If she's asked for AF1s then just get those? What's the confusion?
