What did you get for your son's 18th birthday?

He's getting driving lessons but wanted something he could keep too.

My son loves jewellery so that was easy. Got him an engraved at Christopher pendant. Also gave him £1k for his first car.

Does he like football? You could buy him a brick in his favourite football stadium x

I don't think either would really work for him, unfortunately. Thanks for the ideas though.

Bought first son a car, when you could get a solid second hand little runaround for £700! (6 yrs ago). 2nd son wanted a phone, unbelievable that it cost the same as first sons car! 3rd son says he will want a car too, no idea how we'll pay for it though at todays prices, think he'll have to choose something else.

A Swiss Army knife engraved with his initials. He won't use it though, keeps it in the box so it doesn't get spoiled. He loved it.

We gout him a nice fountain pen as the something to keep, and a special edition vinyl box set from a favorite band

A watch. Proper one for dressy occasions where his Garmin won’t cut it.

A key ring with his initials engraved on the back for him to put his first car key on, and found a lovely wooden keepsake box on Etsy which could be personalised with a short message

Mine was given a decent amount of cash and a gold ring which is a family heirloom.

If I didn't have the ring, I would've given a dress watch.

A really decent watch plus dinner at The Ivy for 10 of his friends..we also bought a secondhand car, but he's having to share it with his sister who is only 15 months younger, so that doesn't really count.

Mine got a fancy iPad for starting uni (combined present for Christmas and birthday in February.

For his 21st he's getting a full kilt outfit. Some of his friends got that for their 18ths.
