Hi all

Any job ideas for a 16 year old boy?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry I should say, part time or even for the rest of the summer to make some money before school starts again.

Thanks

I would look at places crying out for staff such as supermarkets and hospitality

It's not particularly easy for 15 year olds to get jobs. Most companies require them to be 16, and in the final term before they turn 17. Obvious reasons really - the younger they are, the more legislation involved

It's not beyond the realms of possibility of course. Try local family type pubs who may take on year 10s / 11s in the kitchen washing up. Same for garden centres and the usual paper round

Sorry I misread! If he's 16 and not far off 17 then supermarket is the obvious choice

Earlier in the summer I saw a Wetherspoons advertising that they were recruiting 16/17 yos. It's a bit late now, though, unless he wants to carry on working in term time.

Hospitality in one form or another probably his best bet, as long as he doesn't mind cleaning and pot washing. He needs to take his cv round everywhere, from posh wedding venues to small independent tearooms and cafes.

Pot washing is a good one to get them started. Shows good work ethic and team skills

Some of the jobs ours did at 16. They commuted by bike or bus.

Gardening
Digging out tree stumps
Lift boy
Farm work

My 16yo plays in a band which gets bookings for barn dances and birthday parties. Slightly unpredictable income but £25-30 per hour.
