Birthday phones

Dd wants a new iPhone for birthday. I am shocked at the price. Do others spend this amount? I am deliberating on whether to pay for it or tell her she needs to save and pay half. I am in the lucky position that I can afford it but that is not the point. She will be 16.

We bought a very new one after years of recons, as a special 16th present. My only issue is that teen iphone use is so heavy that the battery is already pretty run down. Mine especially liked the new camera stuff
