Hi, my 14 year old daughter has applied to volunteer at a charity shop which is great. However, I can’t find any guidance with regards to where parents should be involved in the process. I’m really happy that she’s doing this independently but I want to make sure that the environment she’s working in will be safe. Is there any guidance online regarding this?
Thanks in advance 😊

Safe? In what way?

Presumably the charity running the shop has it's own policies re safeguarding and health and safety. Are they on their website? If not you could ask for a copy.

What @bigbluebus said.

@JuneJubilee Safe as in what will she be doing there, who will she be working with? How many hours will she be expected to do, what’s tasks? Does that help answer your question about mine? Will she be working directly either members of the public?

@JuneJubilee assume you understand what safeguarding is?

The LA will have restrictions on hours, duties h and s etc for under 16s on their website. The charity has a duty of care to its volunteers including role description, risk assessment and safeguarding in the same way as for paid staff.
