My son is nearly fourteen and has always suffered from mild eczema that flares up when he is unwell

Now he is in his teenage years he wants to shower more often and is finding soap (Dove) is making his skin itch

What else could he use?

Any recommendations Smile

There is a honey shower gel and and soap bar at LUSH and also a body lotion called dream cream that work absolute wonders for eczema. Neither have an overpowering smell so should be fine for a fourteen year old.

Body shop hemp is very good for eczema

Qv gentle wash is super. Its expensive and not perfumed etc, but it is the only thing that doesn't cause flare ups for us

DOVE has mineral oil. Try a soap using natural oils like olive oil or coconut oil.
Also make sure the shower is not very hot water. Hot water carries more dissolved minerals which can irritate skin.
Assuming here you have not changed your towel washing detergent? It could be bio washing detergent for towels or frantic softener causing the eczema.
Finally, where is the eczema? If on neck, shoulders could be his shampoo. Switch to sulfate free shampoo. Go to baby shampoo.

This stuff is brilliant and positively healing for eczema. Not cheap but well worth it.

Thanks for recommendations

It is generally on his legs

No recent changes of detergent, so I don't think it is this

I have bought some of this to try

Simple soap (it’s unperfumed white soap) from Boots or supermarket for armpits/groin/feet etc but Boots Aqueous Cream (creamy soap susbstitute) for other skin. Make sure it’s all washed off though. Don’t leave it on the skin like a moisturiser.
