Swerg? What is that word? Sweet!

Anyway she’s just sworn at it😁

Bless her Grin

I adore my teens. They're gorgeous, and they make me laugh all the time.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 09/01/2022 18:56

I adore mine. She’s not always sweet though!

I loved it when mine were teens. So fun and interesting

A580Hojas · 09/01/2022 18:58

Ime teens are wondrous/awful in equal measure. Remember the good when they're giving you grief (much like toddlers and elderly parents).

Startingover37 · 09/01/2022 19:00

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow I agree, my daughter has just started playing guitar recently and I love hearing her singing away to herself! She also has a great voice but only happy to sing on her own for now. Mine is not always sweet either but I love those moments.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 09/01/2022 19:04

I think singing to yourself shows contentment.

When she was about 8, Dh used to play the chords to Mean by Taylor Swift, and she’d sing along.

😭😭😭❤️

Despite being out or up most of the weekend celebrating his friends birthdays etc
He got up this morning and went to meet his bother for his birthday lunch, helped him open his presents and was rather lovely all day 😀

newtolineofduty · 09/01/2022 19:17

It's lovely reading positive threads about teens rather than the usual opposite! Xxx

dementedma · 09/01/2022 19:18

Had to ask DS(19) to reach into the top cupboard for the sweet chilli sauce. Then endured minutes of " awww, can't the wee, teeny, tiny mammy reach the shelf? What a teeny weeny little old lady you are! Is it nice being tiny?" Etc etc.

I suppose its revenge for calling him Lurch.

Moonface123 · 09/01/2022 19:19

Lovely to hear, l think our teens have coped admirably throughout covid and all the disruption.

catchingzzzeds · 09/01/2022 19:31

I'm not very well and last night my 15 year old DS told his little brother to wake him up this morning instead of me so that I could rest. I had no idea until I woke at 9am this morning. He's a gem.

Ds at 17 was 6ft 5. He used to cuddle me and pick me up!

I love my teens offering to carry things for me, or move furniture.
I can do it, but the thoughtfulness makes me happy.

MrsTumbletap · 09/01/2022 20:03

Awww what a lovely thread. Got a few years to go yet for my DS, but this should be flooded with lovely teen stories!

DrWankincense · 09/01/2022 20:07

Mine has just made me a hot water bottle, got snacks ready, lit the candles and paused Great Pottery Throw Down whilst I was putting her wee brother to bed.
Waiting for her to finish making her hot chocolate now (I have Wine).

whenwillthemadnessend · 09/01/2022 20:25

It is so lovely when they are nice

My dd used to him to herself when she was in primary

I realised she hadn't hummed for years as she has been going through some mental health issues. She has been in therapy and I heard her hum for the first time in years a few weeks back.

It really made me ❤️

That’s lovely. I do think it’s a sign of contentment.

@whenwillthemadnessend Aw that's lovely, it's definitely a sign of contentment and as you say, so lovely to hear after a long time without.
@DrWankincense @catchingzzzeds Such lovely stories, you must be very proud of them!

HemanOrSheRa · 09/01/2022 21:08

Awwww. Lovely thread Smile. DS is 16. I love hearing him laugh when he's in his room. I mean, he's probably looking at something horrible on tiktok, but still, love hearing his proper belly laugh Smile. Also, hearing him rap (or whatever it's called now). I made one of his favourite dinners last night. He wrapped me in a big bear hug and told me 'That was BANGING Mum' Smile.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 09/01/2022 21:28

Yes, the laugh is another thing! Teens seem to laugh all the time.

I've found the trick is to not ask what they are laughing at, you'll just get an eyeroll, a huff and 'Nuffin'' Grin. After lockdowns etc the BEST sound was a room full of teen boys proper laughing together Smile. And the Perry style 'Thank you Mrs H' conversations. And tripping over clown sized trainers in the hallway Grin. They are all turning 17 now, learning to drive and working. It's lovely to have just a little chat with them about their lives. Not too much, obviously, because that would be weird and embarrassing Grin.
PurpleThursdays · 09/01/2022 22:08

Aww I'm loving this thread. My boys are still primary aged but this thread gives me hope that they will stay sweet for a long time.

spiderlight · 10/01/2022 13:56

I was sitting watching TV on Saturday evening. I heard DS creep very quietly down the stairs and open the food cupboard door, surreptitious rustling, and then a Daim bar flew across the room and landed in my lap.

Whatwouldscullydo · 10/01/2022 14:18

Mine has her moments when I couod really quite happily go bang my head against a wall. But once a week she cooks us all dinner while I take dd2 swimming and I treasure it on my evenings off work when dd will make us some popcorn and we sit and watch an x file.

I could do without the only unity between dd1 amd dd2 being when they find it hilarious to throw garlic bread into eachothers drinks ConfusedHmm
