No period yet

My daughter is 14 since November. Do you think I should be worried that she hasn't had her period yet? She is a little anxious as she said all her friends have their periods. She is going through puberty as she has boobs and underarm and pubic hair but no periods. My head is saying not to worry until she's 15 but I am anxious.

My dd started recently at 14 yrs 4 months. I hadn't been worried. She's quite small and slim. As an aside, she then didn't have one the next month, but did the month after, so I'm keeping an eye on whether there might be any regularity issues.

I started on my 15th birthday (in a forest in France - never forgotten).

I was 15. The May before my 16th birthday in July. I was sitting GCSEs at the time so not super convenient Grin.

Please don't worry. They'll arrive in time.

It's why most (not all) girls who start their periods young (primary school age) are generally a bit on the tubby side

Although genetics can override this. I was 11, as was my mother and my sister. I honestly thought my oldest daughter would be later as she was tall for her age but slim, but she got hers just after her 11th birthday as well.

She was 40kg but 155cm so not extra at all, really

*no extra, not “not extra”

I remember being the last in the class to get mine at just over 13. It must be hard for her not being the same as her peers but it must be reassuring to her that she has other signs of puberty (I was flat as a pancake!). My dd started hers at 11.5, after a massive lockdown growth spurt (upwards and outwards!)
