Iphone controls & other mobile phone apps to manage time

Hi,

I would like to put some time restrictions on the hours my kids use their mobile phone as I think it gets on the way of family life having access to them all the time.

Are the iPhone controls any good? I am trying to get my head around it?. Can they actually change it?.

Should I just cancel the data contract and do it through the wifi.

Are there any other apps I can use?

I am really struggling with this technology; May have to ask DD for help which I don't think is a good idea.. Any advice will be appreciated.

No. 100% no.
I understand your concerns about screen time, but just try to moniter them yourself and get them to come off. It may not seem like it to you, but for them there's a world of difference between making them come off devices when they've had too much time or you want to do something as a family, and completely cutting their ability to use the devices. They need that amount of freedom. Effectively stopping their phones from working will just ruin your relationship with them.

Iphone controls are great. Sometimes an app escapes them but you can check from yours. Easy instructions online.
But it might also make your kid furious and add conflict. Few of us can be sensible about phone use though.
