A teenager with a broken heart

My dd, 16, came into my room sobbing last night. Wouldn't talk, just cuddled. I got out of him he's in a break up that's all I got. Didn't want to push him him. He went back to his room playing Adele, all the sad songs Sad

It's worse than going through a break up yourself! Any one got any tips on how to support him? Don't want to crowd him as he's quite private.

Oh bless him - it’s really tough watching them go through their break ups, isn’t it. I’ve done the usual in the past with mine - acknowledge that they’re really upset and breaking up with someone you love is hard; let them know that you’re there for a chat if they need you; that broken hearts do mend and they will get over it; encourage them to see their friends and do their hobbies as much as possible; make them their favourite meals; treats of chocolate etc; coffee out somewhere nice.
Fortunately my cherubs have recovered fairly quickly - they tend to bounce back at that age. I’m not sure what I would have done if they were still pining a few weeks or longer down there line - I suppose at some point you need to say that’s enough, but hopefully he’ll not subject you to too many weeks of Adele!

Offer to do something comforting with him today or at the weekend, favourite film marathon, trip to ice cream shop, big walk - whatever he finds relaxing and fun. Lots of hugs. Stuff as the poster above me says, validating the hurt but reassuring that it will pass.

Oh bless him, such a tough one, I'm going through it with my daughter and it hurts so much.

How long have they been together? Did she end it and does he know why?

I send my love as i know how tough it is to see them struggle with this.

Oh bless him op how horrid for you both.
Just let him know you are there for a chat if needed andante do some fun things he likes to take his mind off of it all.
And I hope he doesn't play Adele for much longer .
