Anyone any recommendations on decent school shoes please? No idea what's fashionable. Dd is saying she wants lace ups but they all seem ugly lol! Not allowed trainers. She's not keen on kickers or dr martens 😔

No idea on what's fashionable sorry. DD has chosen some Clark's lace ups today which I suspect really aren't fashionable and she probably wouldn't like them if they were going through a contrary phase.

My 14yo wears Start Rite brogues and it seems like about 50% of the girls wear the same, along with most of DD2’s (10) friends, although hers have chunkier sole and are patent

Thanks everyone. Been looking online and she's seen some clarks brogues. Brogues seem to be in fashion again. Will probably give them a go. X

Depends on the age if your dd. We have 2 new pairs. From clarks for my 11 year old. One lace up one buckled. Her school don't allow kickers even coloured in and tags cut of

dementedpixie · 22/08/2021 20:23

My dd had Hamble oak ladies black brogues for several years at school (from Clarks)

cheeseychovolate · 22/08/2021 20:31

Geox black shoes

starmoonsun · 22/08/2021 20:35

Weve gone for m and s brouge style. They have a few different ones some seem a bit heavy but these are lighter ones. Younger dad has had m and s shoes and they've lasted best so hoping these are good too.

Mermaidsh1t · 22/08/2021 20:50

I bought my DD Dr Martens last year and they still look good. This is a kid who's heavy on shoes and normally goes through 2 or 3 pairs per year.

Comefromaway · 26/08/2021 10:04

It depends on their age and their foot. Dd has really small wide feet with a high instep. The only style that fitted her were Start Rite Mary Jane or once she hit size 2 (she's still only 2.5 age 19) a Start-Rite or Geox brogue. Clarks & DM never fitted her.

shellstarbarley · 26/08/2021 19:13

My DD 15 has clarks ladies ballet pumps. Not very practical for walking to and from school I would much prefer to have brogues but apparently they are a no no in yr 11!!

WhiskeyNeverStartsToTasteNice · 26/08/2021 21:32

Dd14 has chunky Clarks lace up brogues
