What should I be asking a boy 13 and a girl 16 to be doing?
That’s it really.
I think the next question is how do I get them to do it?
I find with everything the amount of nagging and effort is exhausting .
It seems to be up to me to remember , plan, If they’re bored I’m somehow responsible etc etc et c. just exhausted with being a mum.

We don't pay for household jobs here either. We tell the kids that it's about working as part of a team and keeping the house running.

They do have set jobs that they do every day but in term time these are limited. They split the dishwasher at each end of the day and they will help with:

Washing - folding, putting away
Dealing with animal food and care
Vacuuming
Changing their bedsheets
Dusting and general tidying
Emptying bins/recycling
Lightweight gardening

Though most jobs are done on the weekend as they are busy in the week. I am trying to teach them how to use large appliances like the washing machine/dishwasher and how to look after them but it might be in one ear and out the other.

I will sometimes pay for additional tasks - car washing, heavy gardening, stuff I want to avoid doing myself!
