Dd13 told me she’s going out with a girl

Dd13 told me yesterday that a friend of hers asked her out and she said yes.

I have always been open about sexuality and said it makes zero difference to me who you fancy.

She’s had a “boyfriend”(literally for a week) last year but she really wasn’t interested and dumped him.

We’ve worked massively over the the last 6 months on improving our relationship (she’s a huge daddy’s girl!) and at first she shut down when I was her last night but when she knew I wasn’t angry (why would I be?!) she opened up.

I check her TikTok’s and saw a comment on one she made with the girl asking if they were dating and they put a shy face which is why I asked.

Obviously I’m exactly the same if she dated a boy, you keep your mind on your school work etc and you don’t lose your best friends.

But what other advice can I give her?

When dd got her first bf at 14 I spoke with her about boundaries, saying no to any physical stuff she didn't feel ready for, and respecting him in that way also. We'd obviously spoken about it before but I found ways to bring it into conversations.

Have you met her gf? I know it's difficult at the moment but hopefully she can invite her over when it's allowed. Obviously you won't be hovering over them but can get a good idea of the dynamic and any issues you might feel dd needs help with. 13 is still very young.

Id be saying
Focus on your school work.
If a boy or girl comes along at a later date when you are self sufficient that is fine.

Also least you don't need to worry about teenage pregnancies. But leave her to it
