Teenage phone tracking app in emergency

Hi
I have a 13 and 15 yr old and would like to be able to know where they are in an emergency, if they are not answering phone, or if they are in danger so they can send an alert.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thank you 😊

My DC had iPhones, and I just used the Find My Phone app that comes with it.

They knew from the off this was having a smartphone, and that the app had to stay there until they were 16, at which point they could choose what to do with it.

I think there's one called Scream (or similar) for sending an alert, but we've not used it

Yes I agree with above, if I need to find them I look on FMI. My kids are young teens and not really at the stage of rebellion yet so haven't raised any objections, in fact, they like that I can track and play the ping on their phones when they inevitably kick a it under a sofa, or whatever, and can't find it.

My daughter and I have Android phones. I use Google Family.

Life360 app is very good and free. Son has an android and I have an iPhone so it's compatible with both.

I like that it has notfications that lets you know they're home/at school/low battery.
It tells you when they've left and arrived at those places.

The only downside for me is that it needs data to work.

It's accuracy is very good, my son once lost his bag at school with everything in it. Looked on the app and could pinpoint exactly what bush it was in on the grounds (another kid had thrown it in there for a laugh).

I second Life360. It's a really good app.

I use Family Link too, it works on android phones and it's totally free. I don't use Life360 (it should be free) but from what I read many parents use that just for the tracking feature, for more control I use also Safelagoon but it's not free.

That's great thanks so much for all the replies. I did use Life 360 but it needed to be on full power mode all the time on my phone and wouldn't work if I set it to medium power mode.
I may have another look, and at all your other great suggestions. Thank you all xx

We also use free Life360.
Family of 4, all have it and it’s useful to us all for various purposes. Ds is 17, nearly 18 and still happy to have it as likes to know where we are, and so can appreciate why we like it.
