Literally as the titles suggests.

What age did your children (both girls and boys) COMPLETELY stop growing please?

Thanks

Dd1 (17) has just about stopped at 5' 9". DD2 (15) is still going at 5' 9.5". DS (11) is 5' 5.5" already and hasn't hit puberty yet. Both DDs started their periods fairly late.

CatherinedeBourgh · 28/02/2021 18:19

This is worrying me! Ds is only just 14 and nearly 6 foot, has grown over 10 cm this last year.

If he carries on like this for years he’s going to be huge!

Chicchicchicchiclana · 28/02/2021 18:21

My son seems to have stopped growing now. He's 17 and a half.

DD stopped at around age 14 I think.

CaledonianMacBrayne · 28/02/2021 18:22

When did they start the adolescent growth spurt? Just wondering when boys really kick in?

Chicchicchicchiclana · 28/02/2021 18:23

@imjackieweaver

My dd was told by her consultant that she could stop worrying about damaging the growth plates in her bones at 15/16.
what does this mean?
TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 28/02/2021 18:24

My dd started periods at 11 does that mean she will stop growing earlier? Her feet are already bigger than mine! Do they stop at a similar time?

Chimoia · 28/02/2021 18:25

I am surprised by people's dds saying 18 +. I always think look at the year 10s, 11s, 12s and 13s. Not much difference in heights from year 11 up for the girls.

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 28/02/2021 18:26

My 20 year old grew half an inch in his firstcerm at uni when he was 19/20

He's coming up to 21 now and has started to bulk up and broaden a bit and look mire like a man iyswim.

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 28/02/2021 18:30

@CatherinedeBourgh my ds is 6 foot 8!!Grin

But he was already 6 foot 3 at 14

JesusAteMyHamster · 28/02/2021 18:30

I remember being horrified when my ds had size10 feet at the age of 10.....I had visions. Expensive visions. But his feet haven't grown since then.

At 19 however he's still growing. This time last year he was the same as me at 5,10. He now towers over me at well over 6foot

CatherinedeBourgh · 28/02/2021 19:35

@JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority that’s what I’m worried about!

My half brother is that tall too, I was hoping that came from the other side of his family!

@CaledonianMacBrayne ds started going nuts at 11, grew 10 cm between 10 and 12, then 10cm a year for the next two years, so 30 cm in 4 years...

UserAgain · 28/02/2021 20:04

DD is 15 and hasn't grown since she was 11. Her feet are still the same size as when she was 9.

DS had a massive growth spurt at age 15 and hasn't grown for about a year, but I'm thinking there may be more to come.

MuddyWalks · 28/02/2021 20:20

Girls, 2 years after their first period.
Boys - very variable can be from 15 up to 19.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 28/02/2021 20:36

Wow so if they start periods at 11 may stop growing at 13?!

Chicchicchicchiclana · 28/02/2021 20:39

@TryingNotToPanicOverCovid

No! not all of "them". Children are individuals.
whenwillthemadnessend · 28/02/2021 20:44

Dd had period at 13. She is 15 now and has stopped I think She was 5.5 for ages but has suddenly grown another 1/2 inch. Think that's it now.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 28/02/2021 20:45

Chicci - I did say "may"! I have a daughter who started at 11, so hadn't thought she might stop growing at 13.

Oblomov21 · 28/02/2021 20:47

I Always thought it was 21 for boys. Younger for girls. I hope Ds1 grows just a bit more. I am very short so was glad he's already a reasonable 5'9 and he wants to get to 5'10.

iluvpickles · 28/02/2021 21:02

My dh was on the taller side of average all through school but it was at about 16/17 that he shot up above everyone else and is now 6ft4.

I think I stopped growing about 15/16 not that I grew very much 😆 I'm 5ft1.

swapsicles · 28/02/2021 21:09

Dd was about 13/14, she hasn't grown or changed shoe size since then.
She's still only just 5ft ( in thick socks! ) Smaller than me 5'2 and her dad 5'10

JustDanceAddict · 01/03/2021 14:44

I think DD was 13.5/14 looking back at photos. Our height difference didn’t change. She started periods at 13 / main growth spurt between 12-13.
DS is nearly 17 and I think he’s stopped. Only grown about 3cm this year!!! He’s nearly 6ft4. Main spurt was between 13-15 - - he grew 20cm in two years 😆

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 03/03/2021 09:00

I stopped growing at 20 (6'1" male), DD stopped growing at 17 (5'9") DW stopped at 14 (5'10").

pinkhousesarebest · 03/03/2021 18:54

My ds stopped growing at about 15. He is 5 foot eight and very disappointed.

LynetteScavo · 07/03/2021 07:07

My 17yo is taller every time I see him. He was the same height as DH aged 16. The chart in his red book didn't predict he would be so tall Grin

For years he was exactly the same height as DD who is two years younger. She doesn't seem to have grown much in the last year, but I expected her to be a couple of inches taller as an adult so maybe she'll still grow a bit. I hope her feet don't grow any bigger though (they seemed to have a massive spurt when she was 13, to the point my best friend and my DSis both found it acceptable to point and laugh Hmm
