I thought I would start a thread for anyone who would like to join forces with other parents of teens over half term.

This lockdown has hit hard in my home and the mental health of DS (14) has taken a battering. This in turn has hit me hard and the upshot is that I'm anxious and dreading half term.

No judgement here, no competitive parenting, celebration of any tiny wins and getting through the day.

Hoping some others in the same boat might like to join.

@Frozenintime

DS has been gaming all day. I'm so jangled by his loud voice
Oh my god this drives me insane. I hate it.

I used to feel like that, but TBH now I'm just glad that he's having fun and interacting with someone!

I'd love to share a sound clip. It's excruciating

I'm just bloody pleased this bastard miserable half term is nearly done with! Its felt like more of an uphill struggle than the 6 week summer holidays!

I’m relieved to hear other teens are having similar issues to mine. DD (14) is usually so sociable and has a handful of friends she sees out of school and when not out, she’s on video calls to them. This lockdown her friends seem to be fading away and she seems to have lost the urge to make an effort. I’m constantly asking her if she’s texted any friends or arranged to go for a walk with anyone. She’s seems happy to be hanging out with me and seems happy enough but it’s not how it should be!

Its been the same with my 14yr old dd. They even seem bored of talking to each other now :(
