Please can anyone recommend some school shoes? Used to love the Rhino ones as they stood up to lunchtime football. Now my DS is a men's size 9.5 I'm stuck. Need to have a study sole. Not those funny shoes that look long and pointy Grin

Air Force ones seem to work well from experience

They aren't uniform shoes. Managed to find some Startrite Lace up recommended by another mum

Doc marten shoes have a sturdy sole. They are pricey but last. My ds 15 is hard on his shoes and they have lasted until he has outgrown them.

We got DS1's adult size 9s from Asda
They are leather black shoes, sturdy sole, lace ups. Nice quality, at least as good as his dad clarks but a hell of a lot cheaper. He plays football in them, they are apparently comfy and they seem to have lasted ok so far.

Rounded toe not pointy

Kickers lasted longer than any others we tried, at least a third of the boys had them in DS's school.

Another vote for Docs, DS15 is incredibly hard on school shoes. Nothing lasts any length of time, worst ones were Clarks, sole literally fell off after 5 weeks wear. He can get a school year out of Docs but they’re about £115-£130.

Mine wears DMs, but DH discovered that they do a plain black shoe with no yellow stitching which is aimed at the hospitality industry and is loads cheaper - as shown here but you can get them from other places

They last ds cycling to school in all weathers, playing footy etc fantastically
