Dh is struggling at the moment over our 13 year old dd's behaviour. She is often rude, sullen, hostile, complains he's looking at her (he's not), generally quite unpleasant to be around.

Not all the time, she can also be lovely and nice company when she's in the right mood.

She is on the autistic spectrum too which doesn't help.

I'm pretty sure this is all very common in teenage girls and I'm convinced it will pass in time.

But in the meantime dh is finding it all very difficult. Her hostility is directed more at him than me, but teenage girls find their dads very annoying right?

I feel your pain and unfortunately have no advice to offer but going through the same with my 13 year old DD. She is worse to me than she is to my husband and I suppose it's because I'm the one who gives her a hard time while my husband often ignores the problem. It's exhausting!
I suppose a lot of it is age-related but to a point. Sorry I can't help OP.

My 13yo DD is the same, according to DH. I don’t see it, but then I “get” her and she talks to me more openly than to anyone (including friends) she says.
I’m guessing it’s an age thing?

My oldest daughter is 18 and relatively pleasant now - was horrendous aged 13/14/15. My youngest daughter is 14 and swings between obnoxious, rude and selfish to lovely and charming.

Hormones, hormones and more hormones that are generally fizzing at 13/14 - add to this negative social media influences and Covid drama and we’re doomed for a while.

Hugs to all frazzled Mothers of teen girls - it’s bloody hard work - keep smiling and find time to look after yourselves 🌸🌺
