18th Birthday Ideas in a time of Covid?

DS will be 18 soon and had consented to a family party with grandparents, aunts/uncles, godparents and assorted offspring. We are not in a lockdown area, but many of our proposed guests are, so it's all off.
DS is typically unenthusiastic and is hoping to go to the pub with some mates, which is fine (if it's allowed at the time). He'll have to arrange this.
I would like to try and make the day special, obviously he'll have presents and I'm going to get a special cake, but does anyone have any ideas how I can make the day part of the day special in these current times? Assuming he'll be off to the pub in the evening.
Help!

Hi, congratulations on birthday. As you said, safety comes first. We thought the same and had an online party. We made an instruction for everyone, they were wearing STAR WARS staff (it can be what your child likes)/ We also made a quest in our house: my friend wrote a program for mobile phone (you can search for it online) and there were a few tasks for finding a present, like looking for a code in the bathroom and there were a lot of photos from childhood and time spent in this house.
Hope I helped you, be sure to tell how it went!
