Son wants to drop out of Uni after one week

Need some advice. Son is 18 and in first year at Uni and living at home. He did want to travel but corona put a stop to this, so decided on Uni instead.

Says he rushed into Uni. Only had one week of remote learning and wants to quit. He has no plan B and he says I don't understand ... I'm trying. Anyone have words of wisdom? His 3 closest mates aren't at Uni and drifting ... he was out with them last night. TIA

My DC are both having a lot of fun at uni despite everything.

I’d let him drop out. My mum didn’t let me drop out for a whole term and I got in a tight mess, mental health wise. Then I worked for a year and a half and got it together to do my degree and I did really well. There is no rule that 18 is the right time to do this. He might be better finding out what other stuff is like before he realises what he really needs to do with his life.
