Teenagers and moving Cheshire East

Good evening, I’m hoping for some help :/. We have just sold our Macclesfield home where we live with our three teenagers and are now in a bit of a predicament about where to move to. Kids will be staying at high school in Macc but we fancy a change and are looking at either Congleton (probably Buglawton or Mossley) or Poynton. We will get a much bigger house going to Congleton which makes us slightly more keen on it, but are concerned about whether there is enough for them to do in Congleton? Also when they’re old enough to go ‘out out ‘ which area do you think would be best for a nice night out? We eat out in Poynton a lot, but we don’t go out at night to either place. Any insight would be greatly received. Thank you

I see no one has answered this in a while but I feel well placed to do so. I have lived in congleton since I was young and am just about to move to poynton.

Congleton is somewhere I have wanted to leave for a while, my family feel the same. Mossley is a much much nicer area in the town than Buglawton is, or Bug Town as it is called. You will get more for your money in Buglawton but there are obvious reasons why. I don’t even like to walk through it.

In terms of nights out, congleton is not great, it is better than it used to be but has one rundown night club and some cocktail bars. In the 12 years I lived there and have been if drinking age I’ve probably been out in Congleton 10 times!

Poynton, seems to be be quiet on that front as well but a much nicer town. The train for nights out into Manchester is only 20 mins and you are just as close to the bars of Alderley edge, wilmslow etc as you would be in congleton so it seems to offer a lot more from that point of view.

Thank you so so much for your reply, I really appreciate your honesty. It’s really helped. I think Congleton might not be the right place then. Do you happen to know anything about High Lane which is very close to Poynton? I’m not local so I struggle x

Glad I can be of help but unfortunately I am only about to move to Poynton in a week or two so am only really familiar with Poynton and Bramhall, I haven’t looked at that particular town.

Good luck and thanks again x

High lane and disley are in the middle of nowhere and not much to do. Poynton would be much better for teens I think but would be more expensive no doubt.
