Teenage Daughter won't socialise

My 16 year old seems to have friend sat school, but never invites them over or goes out with them during the weekends. She gets asked out and invited to parties but won't go. Her sister who is 2 years younger than her is at sleepovers all of the time and a crowd of her friends are often hanging out together. I am really worried about my older girl. what should I do?

Have you asked her why she doesn't want to go?

My friends have been joking that in each family there is one of their DC for whom lockdown has been life as normal/ no change 🤣 (introverted..)
It sounds like it's just who your older DD is ... as long as she's happy. You can encourage and make socialising possible but it's up to your DD what she is comfortable with

Is she happy? Not everyone has to be a social butterfly.

If she’s happy that way, she may just be introverted or for what ever reason happy with her own company.
On the other hand, she could have social anxiety or even depression and just not want the pressure of the interaction at the moment.

I Iwa’s like this as a teenager, I was a homebody o had friends in a school but just preferred to stay at home with my mum, later on in my twenties I made up for it, some people just like to be at home, if she is happy Enough then I would just let it evolve and see what happens 😊

My daughter hasn’t seen a soul except me and her dad since lockdown. She finds it easier that way, but she is also depressed and has social anxiety.

If she is happy let her enjoy her own company. I think with some it's a sign of strong independence, not having to be validated by being surrounded by people.

What does she do to pass the time.
Maybe she just likes it that way.
Don't push her.
Ask her if she would like 1 friend around.

I was similar. I like being at home. I'd find it very stressful socialising all the time. I hated sleepovers. I'd just leave her be if she is happy.
